Is Gray Davis in a bar scene from a bad seventies movie? In this town hall event concerned citizens are asking about prisons (which he ignored), education (which he says is much better than is portrayed) and he’s pointing, smiling and winking like he’s Leisure Suit Larry.

Is he running California or trying to get laid? It’s hard to tell.

If you want to see real candidates who have a real vision for California, you should look to some of the one hundred thirty-five candidates who are running to be governor of California.

The debate last night was invigorating. Although, it was artificially limited by the California Broadcasters Association — the debate talked about real issues, real problems, and some real solutions.

For the last half hour as I’ve watched this town hall meeting, Gray Davis’ answers have all been (and I’m paraphrasing) that things are just great, everyone wants to live here, it’s a great climate for business, and it’s just going to get better.

If that’s accepting blame, if that’s accepting responsibility — then I’ll have none of it.
