Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for. I marked this day in my planner as soon as Kevin Shelley, California Secretary of State, announced the election day.

This is the most exciting election I’ve participated in. Today is the historic California recall election.

I, of course, voted early — if not often.

I believe in the secret ballot system of voting, so I wont reveal for whom I voted, but I’m confident in my selection. I will, however, tell you that I voted to recall Gray Davis. Despite Jesse Jackson, and Maxine Waters, coming out for Davis, their support seems partisan.

Truth be told, I’d recall a ton of politicians if I had half the chance. George Bush — we’re still looking for those weapons of mass destruction. Diane Watson — another faceless representative whom could better stand up for her community. Martin Ludlow – for never responding to my phone calls, e-mails, letters, or faxes.

People like responsive government. I think Gray Davis just learned that. A long time ago former Illinois Senator, Paul Simon admitted that the constituents he called back were those who donated money — the larger the sum, the earlier the phone call. Corporations and so-called special interests give the largest sums — and get the best response.

We’ve never seen so much of Gray Davis. If this is what it takes to get responsive government, then I’m all for it.
