Last night I saw Casablanca for the first time. Fortunately, I was able to see it on the big screen in Hollywood.

Now, I’m finally able to get thousands of jokes that I’ve missed. I don’t go to the movies much, by CDs, have cable, or watch TV.

All along, I’ve thought that my sense of humor was just really dry. The truth, I probably don’t know enough about popular culture to get the jokes.

Before the movie, they had a cartoon short, “Carrotblanca.” After the movie ended, I started laughing at the cartoon. It was a mini Casablanca with Bugs Bunny and friends.

It’s hard living in L.A., when you don’t watch TV. Almost all news is entertainment news. The latest, I’m trying to figure out who Justin Timberlake is and why he was on stage with Janet Jackson.

And who in the heck is Jessica Simpson? It goes on and on.

I think I’d have a ton more celebrity sightings if I knew who to look for. Fortunately, for my small talk skills, someone just bought us a DVD player. We’re working our way through the first seasons of the Sopranos and Six Feet Under. There were a few more jokes right there. I think all of these people have been on local news shows doing interviews . . . who knew?

Well, I’m off to read a book . . . don’t worry, it’s nothing from the best sellers list . . . .
